The Groove

Outside of astrophysics, I play drums and have a passion for heavy, fast, and high-energy music. I have been playing drums for several years (though I am currently on hiatus) and enjoy playing the djembe a lot.

I regularly listen to a wide range of music that stretches far beyond extreme metal. While I am a massive heavy-metal fan, including Slayer, Lamb of God, In Flames, Deftones, Twelve Foot Ninja, Periphery, KoRn, and the unique gospel-metal fusion of Zeal & Ardor, my active rotation is equally filled with electronic, funk, and blues-rock. I frequently listen to synthwave and dark-synth acts like Carpenter Brut, high-energy funk and acid jazz, and blues and soul.
