Faculty positions

The Department of Physics is currently recruiting two Assistant or Associate Professors in astronomy (Grade 8/9, £47,389–£67,468, open-ended), both closing 28 September 2026:

• Institute for Computational Cosmology — Computational Astrophysics or Cosmology, focused on building the next generation of world-leading simulations, including new numerical methods, subgrid models and applications to multimessenger astronomy. Details and how to apply.
• Centre for Extragalactic Astronomy — Observational Astronomy and the exploitation of large survey datasets, with particular interest in radio and sub-mm interferometry and Durham's role in the SKAO. Details and how to apply.
