Workshop format
Full day workshop from 9am-5pm. Free pizza for lunch!
The course consists of two introductory lectures spread throughout the day covering:
During the workshop you will go through example tutorials to learn some basic data reduction skills. At the end of each part are some questions. You should try and answer these (at least some of them), and be inquisitive by exploring other questions of your own you might have. Finally, you should email us or come and speak to us (Simo & Krystian) if you have any problems. We would rather you asked questions than struggled on your own, or worse, produced nothing! The workshop will be on Thursday 26 October 2023 in OCW017 starting at 9am. We have also booked OCW116 for the entire day for us to use and work through the tutorials. Make sure you bring your laptop along. Pizza will be free and should arrive around 1pm in break-out area on the first floor of OCW. Please let Simo know if you have any dietary requirements by the end of Monday 23 October.
It is very important that you go through the setup instructions before the workshop on your own laptop. We will assume that you can log into zwicky and open IRAF, Gaia and ds9. Do not leave this at the last minute! If you have any problems, please come and speak to us (Simo & Krystian) before the workshop.
