Beyond astronomy
Yes, the Universe exists for reasons other than being studied.
Music
Outside astrophysics, I play the drums and have a passion for heavy, fast and high-energy music. I have played drums for many years (though I am currently on hiatus) and also love playing the djembe.
My listening stretches well beyond extreme metal. I am a massive heavy-metal fan, from Slayer, Lamb of God, In Flames, Deftones, Twelve Foot Ninja, Periphery and KoRn to the gospel-metal fusion of Zeal & Ardor, but my rotation is just as full of electronic music, funk and blues-rock: synthwave and dark-synth acts such as Carpenter Brut, high-energy funk and acid jazz, and blues and soul.
The photo shows some close friends of mine playing live. They are an incredible metal band, and if you are into heavy and aggressive music I highly recommend checking them out.
